The summer heat is? so intense that the Government has declared schools be closed with immediate effect in Karnataka. The evenings in the park now days is abuzz with kids playing in the BBMP Park in the vicinity. The young parents also with the kids makes it such a joyful sight. The joy that little kids bring with their cheer, laughter & chatter? brings smiles very easily on to faces of the onlookers.?
I remember the time when it used to be Summer vacation during my school years. We would look forward to the vacation as it meant Fun with everyone in the extended family. Mothers are busy as the family home kitchen turns into a community kitchen. Each one takes us a part of the cooking as it is cooking for 20- 25 members in the family together under one roof. All that we children did,? was eat when called & played the rest of the time. Open land, lots of trees and playing outdoor? games that were connecting us to one another. We soon developed our close group of family we loved to be with as a team.
Summer vacations were about happy days filled with pure fun being our authentic selves. It was not expensive toys, it was the companionship. There were no mobile phones , yet we were so connected.? Watching the little ones busy playing amongst themselves I was wondering why being a child is so much bliss.
On reflection? the main reasons why children are joyful most of the times are:
Power of NOW: Somehow naturally children are inclined to? value the NOW. We value the moments we have as kids far more than as adults. While we are constantly planning as adults, as children its all about making the most of the now. The games, the rules, the toys, the company. Children get the fact that it is the NOW that matters.

Never give up:? When children want to play with a new toy for instance. They sit with it till they can play with it completely. In fact they look for little details that we as adults may have missed. They never give up.Their patience is exemplary. Even if it making new friends, they get it.

Laugh Loudly: The sound of children laughing is the best sound to listen to. Unadulterated,? they induce a kind of joy to anyone listening even if you are around the place. Watching them find joy in the simple pleasures of life is simply amazing.

Be non judgemental: It does not matter who you are . How old or young, if the child likes you he/she is nonjudgemental. A beautiful space to operate from as everyone is alike. It is only pure love that children operate from.

11 个月Breakfast was the only meal I had at home; lunch and dinner were always enjoyed at my neighbor’s place. I'd return home just to sleep, ready to repeat the same routine the next day. We spent countless hours playing cricket, lagori, football, and any game we could think of on the street. Friends were our world then. I deeply miss those carefree days—so starkly different from today’s phone-centric world. A heartfelt thanks to you Rashmi Shetty for reviving memories of some of the best times of our lives.
