A Lesson in Professional Integrity

A Lesson in Professional Integrity

Throughout my career, I’ve always believed in showing gratitude to my previous employers by sharing their recruitment posts. It’s my way of helping them find the best candidates while also supporting the broader professional community.

However, in one of my past roles, I faced a significant challenge. As an HR professional, I was reprimanded publicly by my supervisor for sharing job vacancies from my previous companies. The argument was that it was detrimental to the current company's image. This stance didn’t sit well with me, as I firmly believe that my personal social media should reflect my values and support for my network. Despite the criticism, I continued sharing those posts, holding true to my convictions.

When I joined TeamIn, I anticipated a similar reaction. Yet, when I shared a post from my previous employer for the first time, my immediate boss didn’t question my actions and even liked the post. This simple gesture spoke volumes to me.

This experience reinforced my belief in the importance of professional integrity and supporting others. I’m grateful to be part of an organization that respects and values individual contributions and perspectives.

This is a great thing Harshani. I strongly believe what you have posted is the right thing and no doubt about it. Also, I have come across a similar situation with one of my direct reports who was part of talent acquisition back in an organisation I worked for. As the manager for the team, it didn't cause any problems for me. But unfortunately I was forced to inform my subordinate to stop sharing the hiring posts of one particular company since they were direct competitors and the HR team was bonded by an NDA. But I still believe in the fact, that the managers and organisations interfere in the personal space of social media is completely unnecessary and irrelevant. And there should be industrial level agreed terms and conditions that can be included in an NDA, which should be governed by some state authority/or framework to avoid adding those nonsense terms and conditions into the company's NDAs.

It's amazing to see your employer respect your value. It is important for a person to be independent in the corporate sphere. Hats off to your employer
