Years ago, during my student life days, doing M.Pharm, I happened to purchase some clothes from Chennai silks, Coimbatore . While paying bills they collected my contact number and since then every year for my birthday, I have been receiving a birthday wish from them. Almost 20 years have passed and still they continue to do so. Each year after getting messages I started to realize that, these birthday wishes are part of their system generated smart marketing strategy to lure customers back to their shop.?This year, the day before my birthday, on my way back home after a hectic day at college, I got a call from the representative of Chennai silks offering?birthday wishes to me over the phone.The representative continued his talk for almost 3 to 5 minutes, enquiring my whereabouts and?also inviting me to their shop with an offer of a great discount ! I thanked them profusely for the discount offer and jokingly asked them if they could donate free clothes to the poor in place of my discount offer. Being in the business for years, they know the value of each customer and the right strategy of marketing to bring each customer back to their shop.Amidst our day to day hectic life schedule, a simple birthday wish from an unknown person can really make your day brighter. I was In fact perplexed initially as I was not expecting a call from them directly, that too a birthday wish from a cloth store. Regardless, I was so touched and amazed to see their strong determination, enthusiasm & continuity of follow-ups through all these years to persuade me to buy clothes from their shop . I was impressed by the fact that, how Chennai silks is determined to chase their goals by using personalized and smart marketing techniques like this and lure more and more customers back to their shop and increase their business.??

Communication, networking and continuous persuasion leads to success is the lesson to be learned from the personal story narrated above. I strongly believe that our students & graduates should learn the art of communication, negotiation and persuasion skills at the very early stage of their career. She was so determined to chase her passion during the college days and made herself highly inclined towards clinical research and today she is living her dream, as she holds the most coveted position at Novartis. She has shared her experience in this issue of newsletter and I hope it would be an interesting read and inspiration for our regular readers.?Pharmacovigilance programme is one of the wonderful event ever happened in our center and is tremendously expanding its wings in all spheres. The latest addition of Pharmacovigilance programme at our department has fetched good mileage and received the highest level of appreciation recently from scientific director, PVPI, New Delhi. All this was possible because of the determination and the never ever give-up attitude exhibited by Dr.Shamna Sheriff, Pharmacovigilance Associate of our?center. Successful people are those who are always open to new ideas and willing to embrace these ideas wholeheartedly. When you have a strong burning desire to full fill your vision, the whole universe will work in your favour. Pharmacy profession is the only profession grown by 10 to 20 percent this year despite of the covid pandemic and other hurdles. Salute to all pharmacy professionals who made this possible. Therefore young pharmacy workforce should focus on their goals and should strive hard to accomplish their dreams by becoming?a?better, wiser and sophisticated version of themselves.???Materiovigilance, Antibiotic stewardship, Pain and palliative pharmacy practice course and many novel projects are under pipeline of?our department?and will be on the roll on full-fledged basis very soon. Plethora of activities have been carried out by our students and the same has been covered in this issue of newsletter which makes this issue a really amazing one…Happy reading!
