Lesson From The War History into Modern Private Business
?
“He who does not know history is doomed to repeat the mistake made in the past”. Probably you have heard this kind phrase many times. One of the greatest wisdom ever writer or said out loud in my opinion.
I finished Field Marshal William Joseph Slim’s brilliant book Defeat Into Victory. A lot can be sucked in as a valuable lesson from his leader who led the British troops in Burma during the World War II. Slim beautifully highlighted the importance of solid structure of working day, important out of work elements in it, reading, doing physical exercise as well as importance of regular and good night sleep. Too often these modern days can be heard how someone is burning the “midnight oil” badly and long term basis. Well, if the goal is to get into a early grave, suit yourself I’d say.
Importance of Discipline
Just as in the army whether it is a peace time or wartime, having well trained, prepared, equipped troops with solid and clear as a bell discipline in order, these issues are equally vital for any business operation. Whether it is matter of running a one man or woman “band”, micro size company, midsize company or large scale corporation, these issues must be clear as a bell. What’s missing? Ability to function in a flexible and innovative way especially if there is lack of equipment or other resources. With an innovative mind, ingenuity, and willingness to withstand hardship. Then you add up the ability to use timing and reading the world and ever changing situations. voilá! There you have a nice formula for business success! Read it, adapt it and execute it! Have a nice weekend and let me know your input of this issue.
