A lesson from kids

Many years ago when I was still in the corporate job I learnt this lesson from my daughter. It was the finals of the DSO - an inter school event - football match. My daughter's school had reached the finals .As I walked in late and sat down, I was unable to read the score board so I waited to see any familiar face. Soon my daughter stepped out of the field to take a rest. I waved to my daughter from a distance and asked what the score was. With a smile, she replied; they are leading us 3-0. She continued to smile at her best with excitement while continuing to cheer her team with full zeal. I was surprised as we were in the second half and had just 10 minutes of the game left. I went close to her as I knew what this game meant for their team. They were playing against an arch rival 6 times title holder proud and very egoistic team. It was this morning while praying before leaving she said mumma winning this means showing all the team that an underdog team like ours too can create history. This will be after 12 years we will bring the cup back to the school. I slowly went close to her to give her moral support because I knew history was to repeat itself and she would be completely shattered. As I went near her I slowly asked her the score once again. She with same zeal and smile said "aare mumm they are leading 3-0" I said, REALLY. I have to say you don't look discouraged. "Discouraged," she was surprised and gave me a confused and puzzled look. For what ma??The referee has not blown the final whistle. I have confidence in the team and my sir; we shall definitely overcome. Soon she was called in and in the last 4 minutes tables took a miraculous turn they equalled the score. In the last 3 seconds the 4th goal created history. She waved at me gently, with a beautiful smile as she enjoyed hugging and celebrating with her team. The crowd was in awe of the girls and the entire stadium was screaming their war cry AVM AVM - Juhu Juhu. I was amazed, mouth wide open; such confidence; Such beautiful faith.

Reflection by Dr. Anjana?

Reflecting on how often we get discouraged when things don't go our way. Look at life as a game. Why be discouraged, when there is still life. Why be discouraged when your final whistle has not sounded. Remember half time is not full time.

Imaging you driving a car and if you measure your success evaluating from the rear view mirror u will always see your success and achievements and get courage to move ahead but if you only see it from the front mirror you will never be successful The Irony of like is whether we think we can or think we can't we are right. Let’s not be discouraged, as it’s often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock. Being defeated is often a temporary condition however giving up is what makes it permanent. Never give up on something you really want because even if it's difficult to wait, it's the worst if you have to regret Time to think the referee has not blown the final whistle miracle can still happen in the last second too. Let's go ahead in life and even if we try & fail let’s not fail to try because no matter how we feel let’s just get up, dress up, show up & Never Give Up.
