A Lesson from The Barn
So I'm pumping some music, enjoying a nice drive down Long Beach...
And BANG, I see this -- and what a "pattern interrupt" it is!
I went from the typical scenery - houses, strip malls, business suites - to...
A BARN. In the middle of everything.
It caught my attention. And it made me want to poke around some more.
There's a lesson for us all here, even those NOT in business and marketing.
And it's this:
>> What's Your Differentiator? <<
Seriously, what makes you...
Or your business...
Or your product...
Or your service...
STAND OUT?
Here at The Barn:
1) Fun branding.
2) It's a drive-thru convenience store -- not just a Dunkin' Donuts type drive-thru. Pull up on either side of the store and ask for WHATEVER you need, without getting out the car.
3) They push a line of organic and soy milks, as well as organic eggs. I mean, it's a barn, right?
4) When you dig deeper, you find out that it's a special place. When Long Beach was battling Hurricane Sandy, the store was open - offering coffee and beverages to Residents for free.
Don't be surprised if these folks go nationwide. I'd love to see one of these in the middle of NYC or LA.
All in all, it was a great MEMORABLE experience. The Barn caught my attention, offered excellent service, and provided a superb photo opportunity.
