Lessons from my kids that I can apply at work- And, you could too!:)
This happened when Mira, my daughter, was 5 or 6 years old. Her best friend visited home & both of them took off their school shoes. A worn out pair & a fairly new pair. When it was time to go home, there was a brief discussion on which pair belonged to who. Mira’s shoes were new (I know because I bought them a week prior). After the friend left wearing the new pair, I asked Mira why she didn’t say anything. Her response- “Mamma its ok... Its only shoes... she is my best friend and gives me lots in other ways” Sometimes one needs to lose the battles to win the war.... food for thought :)
LESSON 1:: There is no “one” way of doing something
LESSON 2:: Setting expectations in perspective is important
LESSON 3:: Better to look a fool than be one!
LESSON 4:: Celebrate little wins
LESSON 5:: Sometimes a loss can be a win too!
LESSON 6:: Coming up... next week :)

7 年Excellent share,Shahana. She enjoyed giving her friend new pair of shoes and she acknowledged that she received lots from her. It is not giving in or giving up but simply fulfilling a wish heartily, knowing fully well that her friend cherishes the new ones. The excellent lesson for me is that there is no battle in her mind for ownership.It gives lot of peace.

7 年Shahana Sen Mishra - Shahana your girl won the battle too. In fact she didn't lose anything at all. Think of it - what she gave was merely a pair of shoes - what she got in return is winning the battle (got confidence, trust, humility, gratitude - virtues which will be remembered by your daughter's friend and will be told about your daughter to your daughter's friend by her family) and she of course won the war too (a long term friend)
