It is important to have basic Graphic Design skills before heading over to Website Design. You need to understand color codes to match clients’ themes, and you need to understand the size of designs (in px, vh/vw, in and cm), as this is essential when making your website responsive on all devices. The overall knowledge you will have in Graphic Design will boost the website's overall look, and the user interface and experience (also influenced by good design). You will also find customizing templates easy when you know how to match the color themes.

Graphic Design is also key when designing the rough sketch of the website, before you go to the designing (A concept called prototyping and wireframing) This helps in communicating to the client that you understood the instructions and makes it easy to convert the design into a functional website.
