Lesson 3: More power tips
We all know we should use body to generate power, how do we actually do it?
Step through your shot
it is important to step through your right foot (for right hander) after hitting the ball, and keep the body momentum forward. This will force you to turn your body.
To make sure you are not late on hitting the ball, the racket has to stop moving backwards when the ball bounces. As soon as the ball leaves the opponent's racket, start full preparation. Racket only moves forward after the ball bounces.
The power of the forehand should come from the hand acceleration, not from trying hitting it hard.
For backhand, there are three simple steps: turn, step and hit. Make it three distinct steps, count it one-two-three. One turn, two step and three hit. When you step, make sure you weight is firmly on your front foot.
Hitting Inside-Out
To have more power, you will need to hit inside-out, meaning your are hitting away from your body. This can be forehand or backhand.
Another advantage of trying to hit inside-out is to avoid coming too close to the ball. As you are trying to hit it out, you are naturally trying to keep some distance. This addresses one of my problems of coming too close to the ball.

Top Spin
A ball with top spin is much harder to handle so you should try to generate top spin when possible. To generate top spin, it is important to go under the ball, and the racket face should be down when the butt cap is pointing to the ball.
