DWCSL secured the tender to build the civil and reinforced concrete work on the new Mayflower Water Treatment Plant in Plymouth, United Kingdom.

EFCO Solution

The client’s requirements included an F4 concrete finish with minimal joints and tie holes, as well as an accelerated schedule. EFCO proposed the PLATE GIRDER ? formwork system to take advantage of the ability to assemble large gang forms.

Super Service

Once the EFCO equipment arrived on-site, an EFCO field supervisor helped the crew become more familiar with the PLATE GIRDER system with an EFCO Toolbox Safety Talk that provided on-the-job training using a step-by-step video showing the proper assembly and cycling procedures of the system. EFCO Toolbox Talks can shorten the learning curve of an inexperienced crew using EFCO equipment. The videos also focus on safety from when the equipment arrives through the production schedule.

Completion

The project took 24 weeks to complete three large 26'-3" (8?m) height multi-celled tanks successfully and with a concrete finish well within the specifications.
