Less Than One Week Until GSA 2023!

With less than a week to go until the second edition of the Global Sport Agora (GSA), the World Academy of Sport (WAoS) is looking forward to hosting an array of influential delegates from the worlds of sport and the commercial sector when they gather to debate, discuss and exchange actionable ideas at the historic Guildhall in the City of London.

The GSA, which will be held on 7th September, is being hosted by the City of London Corporation with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) as the event’s International Media Partner. The GSA’s goal is to create sustainable collaborative relationships based on mutual respect and global societal trends in the rapidly-changing landscape of world sport.

This year’s GSA will focus on three areas for discussion:

·?????? Data-Driven Decisions: Leveraging Fan and Customer Data Ethically to Drive Growth.

·?????? Investing For Impact Leading To Alignment Of Interests: Realising Social Returns on Investment in Sports.

·?????? Managing Risk and Seizing Opportunities: Planning for the Future of Sports with Changing Geopolitics, Generational Demographics, User Expectations and Emerging New Age Fan Bases.

The speaking line up has been joined by Guy Martin, Head of Sponsorships & Partnerships at Visa Europe, who will be the Topic Champion for the session on Data-Driven Decisions.

He says: “The sports industry is facing increasing pressure to navigate the opportunities and challenges of collecting, analysing, and monetising fan/customer data and therefore the GSA session on data-driven decisions is a timely one. As Topic Champion of this session, and representing a financial institution which is a long-term partner of world sport, I am looking forward to introducing a topic that is at the heart of what everyone should do. Understanding who customers and fans are is important in improving engagement, increasing revenues and supporting decision-making, and the GSA is an excellent forum for discussing how this can best be achieved.”

Other speakers at the GSA include Sir Philip Craven MBE, Chair, World Academy of Sport International Advisory Board and Former President of the International Paralympic Committee; Keith Bottomley, Deputy Policy Chairman, City of London Corporation; Paul Bush OBE, Director of Events, VisitScotland; and Dr Kuniko Tanioka, President, Shigakkan University.

The GSA will be chaired by Deputy Edward Lord, Lead Member for Sport, City of London Corporation, with former Lord Mayor of London, Sir William Russell, providing a recap of the 2022 GSA at the event’s dinner on 6th September. The GSA’s after-dinner speaker will be Patrick Nally, Chief Executive, West Nally/Founder and President, International Federation of Poker.
