The less-paper practice: paperless annexures and exhibits

According to the Law Society of New South Wales, 95% of surveyed solicitors prefer to file and serve documents electronically, so this follow-up to my March 2022 article was necessary.

I did not have space in March to teach you how to complement your paperless affidavits with paperless annexures and exhibits. But this month, I develop the concept of a less-paper practice. I teach methods of managing electronically stored information tested over my 12 years' experience of litigating without paper, even when everyone else was swamped in paper. Paper-lovers and paper-haters can work economically and effectively together!

I debunk some myths and cheerfully surprise you that change is easier than you think, with some modern science about the role of habits from British psychologist Dr Jeremy Dean, and what sustainable economic development has to do with lawyers embracing change (or bracing themselves for change), from Kenyan–American scientist Dr Calestous Juma.

Read the article in the August 2022 edition of the Law Society Journal online.
