One of my KPI’s in my 9-5 job is to improve productivity and performance and when I got acquainted with this term, frankly it felt amusing. But then, how do we measure productivity? By the number of tasks completed in the shortest amount of time? If so, the consequences might be burnout, stress, and compromised quality.
How about looking at a concept that challenges the notion, that speed equals efficiency and instead emphasizes the value of doing less, but with greater focus and precision?
That’s what “slow productivity” is. A term that is gaining acceptance and makes sense a lot looking at the various benefits.
Slow productivity is about being mindful with our time and energy. It involves choosing what to do and what not to, focusing on the task at hand and focusing on precision.
Now, with personal experience I can vouch that saying no is a privilege – trust me, especially in a culture like ours in Asia. All leaders irrespective of the titles, should look at it in an alternate way whether they delegate or lead by example.

Slow productivity is indeed a powerful approach that can transform the way we work. I am associated with an organization which promotes the concept of “less is more” and provides its employees an environment which fosters high productive environment with the right balance of life and work. So, this topic indeed is a great one I am researching on for my own work and my team.
