Less is more, more or less

Photography doesn’t have to be complex. Point your camera in any given direction and you’ll have a picture of something. The recipe to turn that scene into a photograph is a simple one.

Take a good hard look. What do you have? What can you live without? Consider each element a possession. What do you need? What can you do without?

Zoom, crop, change your angle, maybe even a lens if need be.

Let your eyes stroll through your frame, front to back, side to side. Focus on minimalism.

Is there still something there that shouldn’t be, a bit or piece serving up no real purpose to your visual story? If in doubt, leave it out. There. Are you satisfied?

If so, release the shutter. Remember, some of the most magnificent images are created using restraint.

RESTRAIN. CREATE. REPEAT.
