I was helping out a friend over the weekend.?They have decided to leave their role and wanted me to check out their CV.? Call me biased if you want to, but I know how amazing this person is.? When I looked at their CV, they were hiding their light under a bushel (WTF is a bushel anyway?) ??♀?
I have worked with a lot of people (particularly women) who, when we first start working together, tell me things like:“I was just doing my job”“I was just doing what I was paid to do”“It wasn’t that complicated”Who on earth is going to hire you if this is the way that you are selling yourself?Be more like Lulu and start shouting about your achievements and positioning yourself as the solution to the problem that someone has.

When you are entering the job market you have to shout about your achievements.A vacancy is a problem and you are the solution to the problem.A hiring manager is not going to spend time hunting through your CV to figure out the bits that are relevant to them, YOU have to do the heavy lifting for them
So, did you “just” do HR or did you create an HR Strategy that increased employee engagement by x% each year for 3 years, which in turn reduced turnover by y% over the same time period?

Did you “just” plan an offsite for the leadership team or did you coordinate the travel and accommodation plans for 8 Company Directors, maximising their time in the UK by arranging time for them to meet key stakeholders during their trip, resulting in the re-signing of key contracts worth £x million to the business?
Do you see the difference??
Who would you hire???

7 个月This is so true! Women need to be more Lulu! S many friends I talk to and they don’t realise how great they are. Men in the other hand take credit for everything even when they only played a small part! Women need to learn to SHOUT!!
