Jenny: "In your academic and professional experience, what do your role models do to exemplify stewardship?"
Benjamin: "From those great leaders I've worked with, I will take from the example that Dr. Huffman Susan has set. Dr. Huffman was the Assistant Director of On-campus housing for roughly 15 years at Purdue, and she was also an assistant Dean for over 15 years. She was my advisor for ALDPES Honor Society, and taught me much about stewardship. To answer the questions I posed, I would say, "Dr. Huffman always demonstrated altruism -and taught me to follow in her footsteps- by anticipating needs before they were voiced and acting on those needs without being asked."
Jenny: "Would you be willing to share a personal anecdote of Servant Leadership?”
Benjamin: "As for myself, Being Vice President of ALDPES (Alpha Lambda Delta Phi Eta Sigma) Honor Society during my sophomore year was incredibly formative of my servant leadership traits. I am now a Junior at the Mitch Daniels School of Business, and I have found my professional development leading down a different path from more popular financial vocations. I am happy to have accepted an internship with the National Futures Association, with the primary duty of upholding market integrity and protecting investors, which I find to be in line with my desires to serve others.”
