Lenovo Celebrates International Women's Day

Dear Team,

We’re proud to celebrate International Women’s Day, and to recognize the thousands of women at our company who contribute to our success every day.

I’m encouraged that we’re growing our commitment to supporting women at Lenovo by strengthening our pipeline of female talent, providing programs such as Women in Lenovo Leadership (WILL), creating opportunities for career advancement through the Women’s Leadership Development Program and working to disrupt biases where they exist in our company. By breaking down barriers for women in the workplace - we’re truly living ‘Different is Better.’

Over the past year our global commitment to advancing women in the workplace also produced some solid results. For the first time, Working Mother named Lenovo to its top 100 list of Best Companies, recognizing our achievements in advancing workplace equity. We served for the 13th straight year as the official technology sponsor for the Women’s Forum Global Meeting in Paris.

To build a company that lasts, we invest our resources in the right work to maximize financial returns. Investing in a more gender diverse workforce and building a culture of inclusion where everyone has a sense of belonging isn’t only the right thing to do – it makes business sense. Research from organizations like Catalyst, Gallup and Harvard Business Review show the positive impact of a gender diverse workforce with increased return on equity, higher return to shareholders, increased innovation sales, and overall greater engagement.

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day - #PressforProgress – is ours as well. While we’ve traditionally focused on diversity, I’m now challenging the organization to build a more inclusive environment for our many women and men within Lenovo. We need both diversity and inclusion to be successful. When we do this, we reflect the communities and customers we serve, and employees feel accepted, have a sense of belonging and are able to use their talents and skills effectively.

I’m proud of the strides we’ve made; we’ve blended the best thinking from our Eastern Chinese heritage and our Western mentality and infused best practices from cultures of other companies we’ve acquired to create our own unique culture – We Are Lenovo. We Are Lenovo recognizes the differences in our diversity and our shared similarities.

Thank you to all the extraordinary women who contribute so much to Lenovo. We honor you today on International Women’s Day.
