Knowing which publishers and distributors your library buys its book from is critical. My library typically buys books from Baker & Taylor, which works with bigger mainstream publishing houses but once in a while, if we notice that selections for a particular perspective or story are too limited, we do consider looking at smaller, independent publishing houses. More often than not, these publishers are willing to take on these types of authors and their stories. With strategic planning, vetting and networking, it's worthwhile to go the extra mile to ensure that your collection is well-rounded.

Those that learn more by hearing should be catered for by including musical books for example
