Lego & People Experience have so much in common!

Lego & People Experience have so much in common!

It's time to pass the brick (baton).

Marco Andre and I have some exciting news to share!

It was the 6th January 2022. We did not know each other. Not yet.

An Intro/Connect between Marco and Olivier scheduled in the diaries.

Quite typical in the corporate world you would probably say.

In the first few minutes, there was a clear chemistry.

These two guys were meant to connect. Not only did we share a very clear passion for designing and delivering a greater #experience for our people, we had another common passion which tells a lot about who we are.

We are both LEGO-addicts.

Marco's collection yet is quite different to mine. His Lego sets are nicely laid out in a cleverly designed piece of furniture and I could immediately spot the Bonzai, the Titanic, some amazingly big Star Wars sets as well and many, many more.

It took a few minutes only before I was sharing my own secret collection... secret because mine is less visible when I work from home, at least less visible to the people on the other side of the camera.

A few months later, we're very excited to connect again, and this time with some news!

I'm very pleased to share that Marco Andre is stepping in the role of the Global Head of #EmployeeExperience at 诺华 .

Over the last three years, I had the privilege to join an incredible team under the leadership of Jerh Collins , with the mission to build a #peopleexperience program from scratch.

We went from a place where there was very little understanding of what driving employee experience meant, to a place where we shifted the #mindset of entire teams towards a #humancentric approach to design, to change and to operations.

One of the most exciting opportunities I received was to participate and lead the team in the company's response to COVID.

We decided that, as a healthcare company, we may as well use our core skills to experiment with ourselves, and learn.

We called that experiment #ChoiceWithResponsibility.

It allowed us to dive into the unknown using breakthrough thinking techniques, getting creative with where we were, and where we were heading - something I wished many more organisations would actually learn to do.

The outcome is clear: the future of working is #hybrid, which is not about flexibility, rather adapting the work environment to the work to be done.

And the key in the #hybridworld is in how #leaders show up with their teams to create purpose and make it work. It requires them to learn something new and different.

I will certainly post more about it soon...

Then there was a team, an incredible team which I'm so proud to have collaborated with during these years.

My thanks goes to Leah Mintha , Radha Bharj , Anusia Pillay , Irina Stefanova , Tripti Jha , Geetha panda , Ruairí Finnegan , Jamie Ciarletta , Mark Nielson , Mark Grossien , Dylan Harrison to name just a few of the amazing people I was fortunate to work with.

You've managed to keep up with the crazy ideas, the disruptive thinking, the constant pivoting...

You're the best!

With very strong foundations now in the space of EX (I can't say that without a special mention to #ExperienceTown, the first and only internal research platform I've ever seen), and with many moments to be proud of, it's time though to look out for something different.

My work at Novartis has already shifted towards the #FutureOfWorking for quite some time, evaluating how we continue to respond and adapt to new norms, to the future disruptions ahead of us and to teaching and learning the code of culture of innovations.

So now is clearly the time for me to pass on the "People Experience" brick (baton) officially and whom better to pass it on to than Marco Andre .

Marco Andre - I am really confused by the Titanic in 3 pieces ... is it supposed to reflect its current state ;-) ?

Thanks Olivier for being who you are and all what you did for Novartis. Happy I was able to work closely with you over the last years and learn so much from you. I hope you stay as you are and curious where you will create impact in the future. Stay well.

Great to see this post! Funningly enough, the word LEGO is from the Danish phrase 'leg godt' ('play well'). And obviously, anyone who has every played with LEGO can attest not only it was a good play, but also the way the bricks click together is so satisfying. Maybe another analogy for Employee Experience...the need to play well, click together and be part of an awesome structure! ??
