Legendary Lion's Mane
What lies beneath this mane makes Lion’s Mane worth its name; its neuroprotective and neuroregenerative properties worth its fame. There is more than the cute pom pom appearance; Hericium erinaceus has garnered positive clinical studies’ results for neurological benefits as seen in Spelman et al (2017).
Lion’s mane promotes nerve growth and has anti-inflammatory properties. Promises are shown in the following areas:
-Neuroregeneration
-Neuroprotection
-Alzheimer’s disease
-Parkinson’s disease
-Multiple Sclerosis
-Peripheral Nerve Injury (Spelman et al., 2017).
Chinese Medicine has known of? Lion’s Mane centuries ago. As for me, I enjoy it once in a while from my local farmer’s market, adding them to my lunch, sautéed with gratitude. Its general texture is really like any mushroom, only more tender. I find Lion’s Mane does not have the earthiness in flavor that Shiitake has for example, but you can get creative to enhance your dish flavor, adding garlic or shallots.
