Today is my mother’s second Heavenly birthday. She would have been 85. We’re going to eat German chocolate cake, her favorite. I don’t care for her favorite ice cream, Black Walnut, and I don’t know if my brother or sister bought a carton or not.
People have FINALLY stopped asking are we, her three children, going to sell the house.
WHY pray tell would we do that?
My grandparents bought the home in the mid 1950’s when my mother was in high school. They paid $10,000.00 for the two (2) bedroom, one (1) bathroom bungalow. My mother, an only child, met the boy who lived in the house one house away. After they graduated from high school, they got married, and four (4) years later, I came along. Their first child, and only living child they had together. They divorced after a decade of marriage and both remarried and started new families.?
I remained in my mother’s custody. She remarried when I was six and my brother was born when I was seven, my sister when I was nine. My mother always told us that we were to divide everything up three ways.?

We won’t be dividing the proceeds of the sale of this home three ways because, there won’t be a sale of the home. We did divide the remaining proceeds from the sale of another home she sold years ago, three ways, and promptly used all of it to update and renovate the house.
Right after my mom passed, I compiled a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) to determine the 2022 value of the home. It was $1,032,000.00.?
We achieved the coveted GENERATIONAL WEALTH, so again, WHY? Pray tell, would we sell?? We have two (2) more generations below us right now, in line to inherit and continue to generate wealth through real estate.
Buy and hold. It’s profitable.
