Using CAMSS to Navigate the Digital Ecosystem Supporting Legacy --- FIRST DRAFT

The digital age offers incredible opportunities to build, share, and preserve your legacy. Yet, it can also feel overwhelming, with its ever-changing tools, platforms, and options.

For those in their 50s, 60s, and beyond, navigating this digital ecosystem requires clarity, focus, and a reliable approach. That’s where the CAMSS framework—Content, Asset, Management, System, and Safety—comes into play.

CAMSS provides a practical, structured approach to ensure your digital legacy efforts align with your personal goals, legacy outcomes, and shared values. Whether you’re crafting life stories, mentoring the next generation, or contributing to meaningful causes, CAMSS helps you stay on track and avoid common pitfalls like wasted time, unnecessary expense, or digital burnout.

By applying CAMSS, you’ll learn to clarify your purpose, take measurable action, evaluate your progress, sustain your efforts over time, and ensure the safety of your digital contributions for self and with others.

This approach encourages you to navigate confidently (and naturally) the digital places and spaces while creating content and connections that reflect your legacy.

In this article, WE’ll explore CAMSS in more detail than previous Newsletters, including more visual representation of the CAMSS Board and how you can use it to manage/lead your digital ecosystem into a meaningful extension of your legacy.

[This article is a DRAFT - I appreciate your comments!!]

The CAMSS Board:

The Content Asset and Safety Sections of the CAMSS Board

Going to write in this way: You is you, as a person; YOU WHO is your audience; We is US, together!

Content Creation: Crafting Valuable Assets = Story FOR the World

Content creation serves as the cornerstone of any digital strategy, encompassing the development of valuable assets tailored to engage, inform, and inspire target audiences.

Whether it's blog posts, videos, infographics, or social media content, each piece created holds elemental value, serving as a conduit to connect, communicate, and convert audiences into loyal recipients, advocates, contributors, and/or supporters.

Suggested Tasks (Highlights here; with additional tools and techniques available when WE work together):

(a) Identify the YOU WHO of your legacy contributions

(b) List your living life evidence, your preferred education approaches with practitioner reflections, and experiences (include all hinder and help situations) (you are crafting your portrait consciousness map)

(c) Outline the situation for shaping and sharing your legacy contributions - big picture to small paths (you are crafting your landscape awareness map)

(d) Outline talking points about your "Anticipated Legacy Contribution//Project" through the lens, "What do I want to Improve, Focus, and Strengthen in concert with my YOU WHO (in a)?"

(e) Reframe (a through d) in terms of media, message, and market

(f) Review (a) through (e) using a Felt Safety approach - reflect in and on what is unfolding from Physical - Mental/Emotional - Soulual - Spiritual - Wholversical perspectives (use all of your senses) to ensure what to Continue, Stop, and Start for Moving Forward!

(g) Decide the content assets you want to craft - create - write - sing - sculpt - needle--etc. for the selected Delivery Channels. That is, when you open the door to let the dogs out - the yard is ready for play time ))smiles!

Delivery Channels

__|| I make available a list of media delivery formats for channel decisions! So you can match message and media for market!

Of the 150 Possible Ways to Deliver Content, here are 5 for illustration:

  1. E-Book: Digitally distribute your book for easy access across devices; ideal for readers who prefer on-the-go reading.
  2. Paperback: Offer a physical copy of your book; tangible and perfect for those who enjoy traditional reading experiences.
  3. Hardcover: Provide a premium, durable version of your book; adds value and appeal for collectors or serious readers.
  4. Audiobook: Narrate your book for audio consumption; ideal for busy individuals who listen during commutes or multitasking.
  5. Podcast: Share your content in episodic audio format; builds a loyal audience through regular, digestible episodes.

Safety

As WE navigate this ecosystem, implementing the Content Asset Management System (CAMS) becomes imperative. This system integrates elements of Felt Safety [now CAMSS], informed decision-making, actionable strategies, and measurable outcomes, fostering a wholistic approach to content management and optimization. More below:

Management of Content Assets: ACTUAL Systems Approach

Recognizing content as assets necessitates a strategic approach to management/leadership, optimization, and utilization.

Implementing a Content Asset Management System Safety (CAMSS) enables US to categorize, organize, and leverage content effectively, maximizing its impact, reach, and value across various channels and platforms.

By adopting an integrated systematic/systemic approach to content management, WE can streamline workflows, enhance collaboration, and optimize content performance, fostering growth, innovation, and sustainability --- yes, "wholistic organization of work" speak or WOW!.

Safety: Prioritizing Wholistic Psycho-Social Safety

Incorporating Safety within the Content Asset Management System extends beyond traditional notions of security; it encompasses holistic psycho-social safety, encompassing safe systems and safer practices.

By prioritizing the well-being//well-living, privacy, and security of individuals, organizations, and communities, WE can foster trust, loyalty, and credibility, mitigating risks, and liabilities associated with content creation, distribution, and management.

Actualization of Content Assets

Use Standards of Practice (via a checklist of action-outcomes) to make it happen via

1) Social Media refers to digital platforms that enable users to create, share, and interact with content, fostering real-time communication, networking, and community engagement across personal, professional, and global contexts.

2) Transmedia involves telling a cohesive story across multiple platforms and formats (like a show in a theatre or diorama in the museum), each contributing unique elements, creating a richer, more immersive experience for the audience while maintaining narrative consistency.

With

3) Management (manage safe systems for persons) focuses on creating and maintaining safe systems that encourage YOU WHO, WE, US to work effectively, ensuring sustainability and minimizing risks. It emphasizes structured processes and reliable tools to support ALL in achieving their goals, accomplishing their outcomes.

4) Leadership (lead persons from safer practices) emphasizes guiding US and ALL toward adopting/adapting "standards of safer practices" that ensure security, efficiency, and sustainability when managing digital and legacy contributions.

Funnily, I've developed an e-book that keeps all the information in one book as well as the ability to share their wisdom per decade. I feel families would appreciate knowing and understanding what you'd leave behind.

I’ve been grappling with the idea of legacy lately—it’s a heavy thought that stirs up a whirlwind of emotions. The idea of leaving behind the people I care about most is hard to face. While I understand and accept that our time here is finite, I find myself asking, What do I truly want to leave with them? If I’m honest, I’ve been so caught up in the busyness of life that I haven’t given this the attention it deserves. But with the holiday season approaching, I’m hoping to take a step back and reflect. What moments and memories do I want to create for my children? What values and impact do I want to leave within my business? For me, legacy isn’t just about what we leave behind—it’s about the love, lessons, and inspiration we pass on. My hope is to create something that will be cherished and lived out long after I’m gone. This season feels like the perfect time to start. Stephen How do you want to be remembered?
