Legacy Lives, Engineer Dies
If we consider knowledge passing to be like a baton race, the age of the runner who carries the baton is an important factor in winning the race.
If humans could live up to 200 years, they would have more time to innovate and make contributions in their field, leading to more progress. However, we cannot wait for a runner with unlimited lifespan, maybe till now.
A conversation in the movie Alien: Covenant between Peter Weyland and David summarises this idea well. Weyland, a human, seeks to find his creator, while David, a robot, will serve him.
---
Weyland : You and I, son (David), we will find it (where do we come from).
David : Allow me to consider.
You seek your creator. I am looking at mine.
I will serve you. Yet, you are human.
You will die. I will not.

Currently, I think it is a reasonable deal to seek the answer to what we might be looking till our product ask for more.
