A Legacy of Compassion

After nearly four decades of dedicated service, Sandra Noe, CEO of Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana, is bidding farewell to her remarkable journey with the organization. With an incredible commitment to the communities we serve, Noe leaves behind a legacy that has touched countless lives and reshaped the landscape of social service in the region. Starting in 1987, she worked as the bookkeeper and wore many hats until January of 2005 when she was promoted to Executive Director and continued the legacy of our founder Margot Clark.

According to Clark, “In 1987, ten years after its founding, I hired Sandra as a bookkeeper. She soon became an indispensable part of the history of our program. Besides handling the books, she was skilled in overseeing the expansion of meals into new areas by helping build two central kitchens.? She managed human resources and developed computer programs for food purchases and inventory control.? Until I retired, she was my right-hand person.? When she became Executive Director in 2005, she established her own legacy expanding into more counties, initiating new services, and speaking out on issues of hunger and access to food on a national level.?? On the home front, she raised three wonderful children and was and continues to be a caregiver for her mother. For this very special person whom I call my friend, may retirement be all that she desires with good times for projects, friends, and family ahead.”

Under her leadership, Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana flourished into a beacon of hope for the elderly and vulnerable. Her vision and determination transformed the organization into a cornerstone of support for those we serve. Throughout her tenure, Noe navigated various expansions to serve more meals, and a pandemic with grace and resilience. Her strategic acumen and compassionate approach not only sustained the organization but took it to new heights.

Beyond her professional achievements, Noe's departure marks the end of an era that is characterized by selfless service. Her legacy will endure as a testament to the profound difference one individual can make in the lives of others. As Sandra embarks on a well-deserved retirement after 38 years, we want to express our gratitude for her immeasurable contributions. While she will be missed in her current role, we are confident Sandy will not stray too far from us and trust she will continue to inspire and guide Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana in its mission to serve with compassion and dignity for years to come.
