"Left 9-5, started my own business and now I am working 24*7". But is it really a flex?

I am super happy. Guess why?

Because I am legit working with the best clients at the moment and in today's mail I will tell you the exact same strategy or process, I follow to avoid Freelancing burnout (at least from my end). Here you go-

?- I interact a lot with my fellow freelancers and around 88% of the time, I hear them struggling with Clients' deadlines, waking up early, or going to sleep late because of the clients' work. You and I both see reels and memes talking about-?"I left 9-5, started my own business and now I am working 24*7".

But is it really a flex??

It might sound/look cool on Social Media but is it really that "COOL" in your real life?

If the shoe fits you here, I genuinely want to ask you-

"Hi! How are you doing?

Are you taking care of yourself?

Are you really enjoying your online business or pretending to enjoy it?

ASK YOURSELF!!!!

?

?

Before you raise a finger towards me, let me keep myself clear-

?"NO, I don't work on weekends.

I don't sleep late or wake up early to get work done.

I don't compromise my Health by trying to be cool to work 24*7.

I don't compromise with my family and personal time"

?

Again, before you raise a finger at me saying- "Vartika, you are taking things casually".

My answer is- "No, I don't. I have never treated Freelancing less than a business and that's why I was able to scale it further and now started my own Content + Social Media Management Agency named "Kontently Social".

?

It became possible because of the way I conduct the process. Let me break it to you-

?

  • Get rid of the Employee Mindset. You are a "FREELANCER" not the employee of your client. You are an expert in your skillset and guarantee to bring results. Hence, you need not run on every condition set by your clients.?This is the first thing I did. Focused on bringing results and stopped thinking that I am working "under" my clients.

?

  • Next is to become confident in your skills. I just know one thing- "If you are not confident about your skills, then how come a random stranger on the internet be?"

?

  • Before going to the discovery call, thoroughly analyze their account and jot down the list of questions you will be asking. On the discovery call, state all your Terms & Conditions clear, like- 50% advance, no weekend work, etc.

  • Mention them clearly in your contract and get the contract signed.?

  • To avoid hassle and chaos, always submit the work in advance, and ask your clients to review changes in the next 24-30 hours, so that you can make changes before the deadline.

?

In short? "Communicate everything". Trust me that's what I do and that's what people who are managing 15, 20, 40, or (any XYZ number) clients do.

?

Bonus: I know hiring a team member is no less than a task. But try to delegate the work which doesn't need your expertise or you are simply not good at. This way you can focus more on material tasks, upscale your business and save time with quality investment.

?

I hope you learned something, I'll keep sharing more such tips because I want to see you running a successful online business.?

As a person who is super hesitant to convey her message across and that has lead to clients crossing boundaries. This was a well-needed reminder for me!
