LET'S TALK INDUSTRY
A wise man once said "Change is the only constant", and oh boy does that resonate with California and the lighting industry. As California continues to be a hotspot for innovation and technological advances including the LED space it also pushes on energy conservation, dark sky compliance, and many other (well let's just say) "restrictive" measures. While all the focus on building a better society and conservation is very important, it's also important to recognize the challenges it can present as well from the manufacturer and sales rep side.
At this year's IES product fair, SLG Lighting was honored to show out along with our reps Forman and Associates who always greet us with a smile and a hand out. Our team was busy talking about our new wireless network controls system, SLG Sync - designed to meet at the crossroads of technology and energy conservation, something the California market knows a lot about.
Our second show in California within the last 6 months - the size and activity at these conferences is proof that the LED industry is moving towards bigger leaps as far as market share is concerned. The tired "post-Covid" blues are now far behind us and the buzz and excitement from so many smiling faces is a prelude for what we believe to be an increase of LED sales by 20-40% within the next 5 years. With a lot of the mandatory requirements set by California law makers (and similar national legislation) the drive for energy efficient lighting will become less of a luxury and more mandatory.
At any rate, we as a company know the importance of change and constantly moving the needle forward - shows like the IES product showcase are great to point us in the direction of where we need to drive towards.

PROTECTING YOUR INVESTMENT IN LIGHTING
LED lighting is a beautiful solution for most lighting applications - it's cleaner, easier to instal, and generally a lower overall cost. As we continue to push and innovate in the space we create smaller, lighter fixtures to drive down shipping costs and deliver an easier installation process to the hard working electrical contractor. In that innovation though there are times in which high traffic areas can present potential hazards.
Say you've got 40 HCL linear high bays installed in your high school gymnasium and while playing a rival in basketball the ball gets bounced way high in the air (it happens!) It may be a good idea to add a wire guard onto your fixtures for those just in case moments. We offer wire guards as an affordable protection plan on many of our fixtures. High bays, flood lights, and strips tend to be the high traffic fixtures that demand protection the most. It's probably not important on EVERY project although it's something to consider on ANY project where protecting your investment in lighting matters.

Silly title aside, we have an exciting lineup of selectable landscape LED fixtures coming soon to our warehouse. Our current best selling AB LED Bollard and AP LED Post Top are getting an upgrade to SKU saving benefits with selectable options. CCT selectable outdoor fixtures are now in our wheelhouse and we have more coming. This is our new standard as seen with the roll out of our FSS LED selectable floodlights and our soon-to-be-released selectable LED area lights.
