LED High Bays - how do you ensure that your Luminaire is going to last?

LED High Bays - how do you ensure that your Luminaire is going to last?

Do you really know what components are used in your LED High Bay?

How do you protect yourself against counterfeit components?

At BSSLED Australia, we manufacture our LED High Bays in our state of the art facility in Seven Hills, NSW using certified Osram LED’s and Osram Drivers with full documented traceability under ISO9001.

Our products have been fully tested and certified locally in Australia under AS/NZS 60598.2.1 & AS/NZS 60598.1 and EMC tested to EN55015 by Austest Laboratories and LED Labs in New South Wales.

Designed and tested to operate in ambient temperatures up to 50 degrees centigrade and with proven lumen depreciation under IES LM80-08 and TM21 projections.

Complete with a 5-year warranty with no small print or restrictions giving you total peace of mind.

Despite claims that LED Lighting will last forever, the reality is that unless you use reliable components, you will see premature failures or substantial lumen output reductions as the cheap quality LED degrades over time. BSSLED is the only LED High Bay Lighting manufacturer in Australia to offer a lumen depreciation warranty based on the Osram LM80 and TM21 projections of the Duris S5 LED. LED driver failure due to poor thermal design or lower quality components is likely to be the first point of failure on any LED luminaire, by using quality products such as the Osram OT165 Dim 4 LED drivers, we can reduce premature failures and provide MTBF [mean time between failure] projections to support our product performance claims.

Our LED Drivers are also Dali Dimmable and can be used with various control or building management systems. This allows total flexibility for future changes of use or further energy savings.

BSSLED has many years of LED luminaire manufacturing experience with a proven history and reputation in the UK, this experience has been brought to Australia and has set BSSLED to be one of the fastest growing LED Lighting manufacturers in Australia.

A couple of questions because I have been asked recently with hot summer weather and heat being the no. 1 killer of LEDs and drivers. Q1.Is the black body to the radiator, is poorly conceived for Australian sheds and conditions when high bay lighting is located under an uninsulated metal roof and at some temperature point a black fitting will start absorbing heat not releasing it? Q2. Why are drivers enclosed in black box? Wouldn't air flow around an un-enclosed driver be a better approach? Q3. Are LEDs located at the centre of the circuit board likely to fail early due to less heat transfer away than those at the perimeter? Happy for you to pull me up with technicals but please evidence.

I couldn't agree more, there are lots of counterfeits out there. Would you agree that all lights that are approved in NSW for ESCs are using quality drivers?
