Leaving your gates open can be bad...
Many #powered-gate customers have asked for gates that can be left open all day and only closed at night. Their reasons vary, but more often it is based on simplicity and the chance of a lower installation cost.
"Why have gates if you want to leave them open?" is my first reply. The other and far more serious point is that of purpose and consequence. #Closed-gates are the number one benefit customers gain for having a system, even if they are easy to control and in some cases #fully-automatic, in a single or in both directions.
Closed gates have a psychological benefit as well as a physical one. They can defer unwanted visitors well before they arrive at your door. They can determine public from private property. They can protect animals as well as children from exposed dangers and prevent many issues from ever occuring.
Open gates have next to no benefit, with little impact on traffic calming or control. They rarely look very good and when you close them, it can be a sign you are away or on holiday. Maybe even a great advert to the local thief or would-be vandal..... or a revengeful neighbour waiting for thier ideal opportunity? ..
Keeping your gates closed, may highlight the need for communications or remote control, but these items are usually required at night, when the gates would otherwise be closed anyway.
Today's access communications and control can be very user friendly, flexible and convenient. Using modern telecommunications you can open your gates, from the tone on your own phone! landline or mobile.
