Bombarded by death,
family gone, home in ruins,
take what you can, go!

What you leave behind,
your heart, soul and dignity,
are hard to replace.

Can I welcome you 
as an equal and as friend
when you step ashore?

If I don't know how,
please just tell me your story.
Perhaps I will learn.
