Leave it in the Trap

I just finished reading “The Bait of Satan” by John Bevere.

Bevere states, “…that in order to be successful a trap must be hidden, and it must be baited. Satan is the master at baiting traps. One of the most deceptive kinds of bait is something every Christian has encountered-offense. Actually, offense itself is not deadly-if it stays in the trap. But if we take the bait we become offended.”

Offended people can produce anger, outrage, and hatred which could lead to insults, broken relationships, and backsliding, which leads to sins of the flesh.

The next time someone offends you remember that it is only the bait of Satan and leave it in the trap. Or, maybe take it one step further and “pray for those who offend you” (Mathew 5:44).

Whatever you do don’t become offended. Don’t be like the mouse in my basement last weekend. Don’t take the bait just leave it in the trap.
