AI's hidden toll on the planet—We in L&D need to talk about it now... In today's fast-paced digital world, L&D is primarily about shaping responsible and informed leaders, and NOT just delivering content!

Dear Folks!

In addition to the wonderful possibilities that today's tech, including AI, offer, we, at Learnnovators?, are also increasingly mindful of their environmental impact. This issue touches on sustainability—a core value we cherish deeply ??.

Here’s why we think those of us in Learning and Development (L&D) must discuss this now:

• Awareness and Accountability: As L&D professionals, we must understand and convey the environmental costs of using AI technologies. Our role in educating and training means we are uniquely positioned to raise awareness and promote responsible AI usage ??.
• Sustainable Practices: We can lead by example by integrating sustainability into our learning programs. This includes choosing more energy-efficient tools and advocating for AI solutions that prioritize ecological considerations ??.
• Ethical Implications: Discussing the hidden toll helps us align our technological practices with ethical standards. It challenges us to think about how our tools are built and the broader implications of their use on the planet ??.
• Future-focused Learning: By addressing these issues, we prepare our learners not only to use AI effectively but to do so in a way that is mindful of environmental impacts. This forward-thinking approach ensures that our training programs are relevant and conscientious ??.
