Learnings from a recent setback

Dear Reader,

Hope you are well. :)

I recently faced a setback in my life, which I didn't expect because I had been working hard and giving it the best I could (at least, I thought so).

I don't want to get too specific about the setback because that's not what this article is about.

But I want to share with you something that I journaled about today and something that uplifted me. I hope you remember this if and when you face a setback in life.

  1. I might reach my goals later than others. And that's okay. If I try to fight this flow of my life right now, I know that it will impact my mental, emotional, and physical health. So I should just cut it out and chill. Focus on things I can control and let go of the things I cannot.
  2. Even when you don't get something you want, something better ALWAYS comes through. ALWAYS.
  3. There is a part of me thinking, "Oh, of course, what other choice do you have except accepting it?" and "This is all just pacifying yourself for a failure you had in life." Negative self-talk is so easy, and it's even easier to spiral down into negative thoughts and feelings. But anyway, yes, I am pacifying myself from a failure in my life and moving on. I have had failures earlier. And I have moved on from them.

I have an analogy:

Think of your goals as if you are walking down a certain path, and failure is like this huge rock or a wall that's on your way.

There are two reasons for this or two ways to look at it -

First, you're supposed to find a way to cross this rock/wall.

Perhaps there is a tiny gap that you're supposed to look for. You find it, cross the rock/wall, and keep moving on your original path.

On this mini-quest of crossing the rock/wall, you gained skills that were necessary for you to learn on this path. It could signify that you probably needed more time, and this experience made you more capable of navigating this path.

Another way to look at it is this: You're not supposed to go down that path.

Sometimes things become unreasonably difficult because it's not meant for you.

You are supposed to go on a different path; the path that suits you better, the path that is waiting to welcome you. YOUR PATH.

I don't know which of these reasons are applicable to your setback. Only time will tell that. But I want you to hold close to these statements that my new best friend (ChatGPT) told me:

"This setback doesn't define your worth or your potential. Your worth is inherent. You are valuable, and you are worthy, no matter what."

Also, try journaling. I feel like and free as a butterfly after journaling it and sharing all of this with you. I hope this helps you whenever you are in a not-so-happy place in your life.

If there is anything I can help you with, feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn.

Happy to help you! Have a great day!

Warm Regards,

Amrita :)
