Learnings From My Version 1.0!

These learnings sound simple and known but are powerful. These are easy said than done and we all have experiences that got us where we are today, personally and professionally.

As children, we process, understand and make meaning of things and situations irrespective of the intentions of people and circumstances. What gets fed and wired in the first few years shapes our belief systems. As professionals, we unlearn and re-learn many things to do our job best. However, internal awareness and knowingness are vital to self-development and supporting others in their journey. You got to meet the part of yourself that you never want to meet- the raw authentic self and you have two choices, to stay there and be swallowed or to move on, unlearn and re-learn.

Work and personal life are two sides of the same coin. Success has a different meaning to everyone. Humans are social animals and look for both, a sense of belongingness and expansion beyond our current knowledge, success, and achievements. Neither can be achieved stand-alone, and there is no perfect place to be at. As professionals and leaders, we try to strike the right balance for further growth and expansion.?

Our map is not the territory. What we know, believe, and practice is limited to our life experiences, knowledge and learnings and is minuscule to the experience of the wider human collective and cosmos. Have respect for another person's model of the world. As professionals and leaders, the ability to manage ambiguity and not overreact or under-react to given situations and people is vital in today's time.

"I never stopped running, my feets just stopped moving." - Viola

Any behaviour/action was the best choice anyone had at a given time. In general, humans do what they do best with the knowledge and resources they have in a given time and situation. While we constantly teach and direct teams, it is essential to understand them beyond their titles and skill sets. From the place and perspective, they are coming.?

No emotion is a bad emotion. The circle of emotions from different school of thought display up to 80 emotions that humans experience. Fear, anxiety, stress, self-doubt, imposter, not being good enough, under-confident or adding any other name or label is the same energy that enables the human body, mind and emotion to operate. To be able to identify, name it, and use it in the best interest of ourselves and others is possible. It does need a great extent of work and professional support. As leaders, knowing and creating such a safe psychological space goes beyond the rewards and the perks.

Good-bad and right-wrong are just different perspectives. Till the time is within the legal realm, humans are either not aware, aware, or more aware and seeking further awareness. At work, we are supposed to equip ourselves with various resources, make the best of every situation and make conscious efforts to work on ourselves as much as we expect others to work on themselves.?

Change is constant and change is inevitable. Our memories, learnings and imagination feed our present focus and efforts towards future goals. As professionals and leaders, if we are struggling to keep our momentum towards influencing opportunities, it is okay to seek support. The journey of overcoming blocked energies does need time, effort and experience. However, it does not have to take as long to feel burnout and broken.?

Courage and capability go hand in hand. Only courage with no skills can enable us to achieve immediate goals. However, for continued progress, constant learning and upskilling are essential while having the confidence and courage to take risks. It is the right balance of courage, connections and capability that goes a long way to create a broader influence and impact.?Courage is surely the cure mixed with the right learnings.

"All courage is fear said with prayers." - Anne Lamott

Self-accountability is the only accountability that will enable us to lead the best version of ourselves. Knowledge, experience, support, connection. Life has all to offer. It is only we, who need to get up each day and make that effort for ourselves to become better than what we were yesterday. Leaders, influencers and change-makers do not just reach where they are. It is their constant intentional actions and efforts that made them an outlier. Yes, we come with different capacities, IQs, and EQs, and to be the best in our skin is solely our responsibility. Embrace and celebrate your uniqueness!

Shivaani - That's deep very deep! But very nicely done????. In the final analysis it comes down to just one thing - Have we given it our all to be the best version of ourselves?( Notwithstanding the slip-ups in between). And if the answer lands on the credit side of the ledger - that is all that matters!
