Learnings from Kobe

Learnings from Kobe

I have decided to research Kobe, his work and what others have shared about him in recent videos after reading a shared article on his letter to his younger self.

I am so impressed not only with his records and accomplishments but also with his contribution to his family, friends and the community especially to women.

Here are my learnings from Kobe Bryant:

1. Great things come from hard work & perseverance. He’s known for his passion, work ethics, willingness to always learn, focus and perform his best all the time. Obviously, success is not for the lazy people who like to blame others. Even with all the awards and achievements he had, he still continuously persevered to achieve more and to be a better him every time.

2. Being accountable for your actions, knowing how to apologize truthfully & doing something about it. Making a decision to admit his mistakes, work hard to earn back trust & forgiveness and standing up again to move on and fight for his dreams

3. At a young age, he knew what he wanted and mature enough to state how important it is to give your children independence and growth. Even though he grew up comfortably or I can probably say in a rich family, he understood the importance of being a leader in the family, being able to make tough decisions and that it's not all about material things. Investing in the relationship and supporting family members to live their purpose.

4. Self-awareness, creativity and vision. He is a true leader who has the will to pursue his dreams. Even with adversities in life, he always has pushed himself to the limit. I saw the short video, Dear Basketball and how he gracefully retired. From a very young age, he knew he wanted to be a great basketball player and create a legacy in this sport. He used all his talents in all that he does.

5. He knows what and who is important in his life and prioritized them. He diverted his talent & passion to his family, businesses and helping women & the community through education and sports after retirement. I saw a lot of articles complimenting how Kobe is a real family man. Fetching his children from school and really spending quality time with them. His fame and accomplishments did not stop him from living a balanced life, building both family and career/business at the same time.

With much accomplishments as he has & with such overwhelming success in both personal and professional life, I am sure that you will agree that he has lived life to the fullest with no regrets and left a legacy that will be forever cherished.

A note to myself:

- To be grateful everyday I live and get the chance to love my family.

- To take the opportunity to serve others through learning and even the small things I can do using my talent.

- To always learn, dream big and pursue my passion.

- To forgive and move on always.

- To always love, take care, support and guide my children for them to grow and live a legacy...

Although it will be difficult to accept and see the silver lining for most people close to him at this time. May God bless them with acceptance and strength to move on. Rest in peace to Kobe, Gigi and the rest of the 7 people with them.????
