?? Learning, Working & Leading: A Personal Reflection Over 30 Years
Sometimes, you need extreme circumstances to realize truths that were there all along.
After 30 years, here's what I've learned about learning:
Phase 1: The Academic Illusion (First 16 Years)
?? I spent 16 years in formal education. Got the grades. Got the degree. Got the doors opened. But here's the uncomfortable truth: while education opened doors, it didn't teach me how to walk through them.
90% of what I learned in those formative years? Barely used it.
Phase 2: The Reality of Skill Building (Next 10 Years)
?? Post-university, I learned SAP in just two months of a six-month course. Became a consultant immediately. In some of the world's most prestigious companies: ? No comprehensive manuals existed ? No step-by-step guides were available ? No clear path was laid out
We all just... figured it out. On the job. In real-time. With real stakes.
Phase 3: The Executive Evolution (Following 10 Years)
?? Then came leadership. Delivering outcomes rather than just actions. Another steep curve with:
? No playbook
? No formula

? Just heroes and folktales
The Universal Truth: This isn't about lack of support - I had plenty.
It's about the absence of structured guidance at all three crucial stages:
The Reality Check
? We've built elaborate systems for teaching theory, training skills, and developing leaders. Yet somehow, the most crucial learning still happens in the trenches, through trial and error, through success and failure.
Perhaps it's time to acknowledge that:
? Formal education is just the beginning
? Real learning happens in the application
? True mastery comes from adaptation
Do you know if this rings true for you?
What has your journey taught you about learning and growth?

3 个月For this circle Mohamed Anis While formal education provides a foundation, I believe that time beyond primary education is better spent on developing practical skills and real-life experiences starting time spent on secondary education. These are often the true test of human life and crucial time of humanity and adaptability in our ever-changing world especially this Error of digital presence.

3 个月So true! Education gives you the framework and then you test and adapt it through practice. Eventually you make your own framework and then pass it on to others and so the cycle continues….
