Self-awareness is the #1 rule to practice a better learning experience.
Do you know what's your learning style?
Are you the one who learns during the class with 100% concentration? Or,
Do you find yourself dreaming of your next holiday on an island by drinking your coconut water while listening to the instructor?
Don't feel bad if you are not a good listener, you are not alone!
Am I a reader or a listener? How do I learn?
In his book, "Managing Oneself",?Peter F. Drucker says that:
Maybe you are neither a reader nor a listener...You might be learning best by writing or experiencing.
Four core-learning styles
The 4MAT cycle, developed by Bernice McCarthy, describes four core-learning styles based on how we perceive and process information and experiences.
If you are a trainer or a sales enabler, it is not enough just to know your learning style. To create a better learning experience for your audience, you need to be aware of different learning styles. So you can provide the right development plans for your sales team to achieve a higher performance culture.
1- Imaginative Learners - Get ready for "Why?" questions
They learn by listening & sharing ideas.
They use imagination.
Training Tip: Share in advance the benefits that the training will provide to the participants and the company they work for.?If they understand & embrace the "why" of the training, they will be more open to listening!
Organizing group activities and creating a sharing environment will help them learn better. Let them brainstorm and come up with creative ideas.

2- Analytic Learners - Give them facts to deepen their understanding
They learn by thinking through ideas, and "what" is definitely their favorite question, "what do I need to learn?"
They are known as knowledge-oriented but be careful not to make them miss the big picture.
Training Tip: Invite experts/guest speakers to your training sessions and let them share their experiences backed up with the strong analysis - then you will win their hearts!
3- Common Sense Learners - Want to be doing- experimenting, building, and creating
They would like to judge the usefulness of what they encounter, and "listening" won't be enough!
Training Tip: Give the theory and let them experience it on their own to seize the practicality of the information. Organize a workshop, give them a mission/exercise to complete, and let them present their masterpiece :)
Roleplay activities can also create a playground for common sense learners - "Get in and try".
4- Dynamic Learners - Discovery of hidden possibilities with "what if" question
Learns dynamically by trial and error & self-discovery.
They are independent warriors and love taking risks!
Training Tip: Instead of suggesting a "one size fits all" approach, let them do their own A/B/n testing and explore the right path on their own.
You can also arrange "Success/fuck up of the month" sessions to encourage dynamic learners to share their experiences.
Orchestrate different styles
As sales trainers, we need to combine all four styles to upskill our sales team and sustain higher learning retention rates.
Now you know your own style, how you learn & how others might learn better.
It's time to create the best training programs for your audience :)
