Learning With Raspberry Pi 400 Desktop Computer

I called my niece in Ghana during the pandemic's peak to ask how school was going. I wanted to know whether they still had lessons since they were forced to stay home because of measures to reduce the spreading of the covid-19. She told me they now have online lessons, but only some children can follow them. Teachers and educators need access to the necessary computing power to organize these online classes.?The sudden remote learning shift because of the pandemic surprised many nations. Even the so-called advanced countries had to reorganize and find new technological solutions to keep educating their children. The need for tools to learn online was a struggle for many students in Ghana, as many needed personal access to computers.??

What is our role?

Even though the sudden lockdown in 2020 through 2021 may not happen again (fingers crossed), In today's world, one cannot imagine learning without using computers and having access to necessary edtech tools that encourage hands-on learning. But the reality in Ghana is that besides the lack of affordable computing hardware, stable and accessible internet is also an issue, and having a continuous electrical power supply is an issue. And depending on where you are located in the country, the more complex the challenges can be. Most of the people who have access to the needed computing tools to learn are in the more prosperous and more affluent schools, and these schools are run mainly by and for ex-pats or foreigners in Ghana or from wealthier families.?

As a Ghanaian, I have visited schools in big cities and villages. The differences are enormous in the quality of education, the materials available for learning, and sometimes the infrastructure and the maintenance of these infrastructures. And so, having low-maintenance, easy-to-carry, and accessible educational tools such as the Raspberry Pi 400 desktop computer is unmissable.?

A little help can go a long way.

At Techten Planet Ghana, we believe in providing educational technology tools for all learners and educators across Ghana. We are excited about the Raspberry Pi products becoming available across Ghana. Although many industries are experiencing supply chain bottlenecks and shortages of chips, we are excited about the Raspberry Pi 400 desktop computer because of its low-power consumption and learning potential. Raspberry Pi has no match in the world of small-size or single-board computers. The Raspberry Pi 400 computer is practical and educational. It empowers people in developed and developing countries to pursue their passion for computer science to become the problem-solvers of their communities as programmers, makers, tinkers, and even inventors.??

Schools can organize world-class teaching materials on these devices with an internet connection or no internet connection. Access to information platforms like Wikipedia, google, world maps, and other information sources can be made available on these devices to enhance students' learning abilities and research. With Raspberry Pi 400 desktop computer, learning becomes fun, engaging, and stimulating, and that is what you want for students and educators.

Why the Raspberry Pi 400 computer?

Raspberry Pi 400 computers are a good solution for enhancing education across Ghana because they are affordable and low in power consumption. You can easily power them with a solar power bank. It is easy to carry around, built to withstand unforeseen power losses, easy to learn and has the most secure operating system. Everyone can learn to use Raspberry Pi devices in several days. Still, there is so much online learning content to be discovered from millions of Raspberry Pi communities of engineers, developers, and hobbyists worldwide. Incorporating the available lessons and projects into school curriculums, whether as an extra-curriculum activity or main classes, is always a win for the education of young people across the nation.?

In time, we can put a Pi 400 computer on a table for each child, whether poor or rich, to give them the possibilities for a better future. This is our social cause at www.techtenplanet.org. - OYA

In conclusion, Raspberry Pi 400 desktop computer sits perfectly between an expensive laptop and a traditional desktop computer. For the price of a used laptop in Ghana, you can 4-times brand new Raspberry Pi 4's. It is an investment that parents can make for their children or schools for long-term learning and development.?

What are we doing?

At Techten Planet, our current center in Achimota, Accra, offers different courses and allows students to try their hands on physical computing projects with Raspberry Pi computing devices.?They can learn, code, play, and tinker with our center's available electronic and robotic kits. From 2023, we will reach out to schools in the area to visit us with their JHS 2 and 3 classes for Raspberry Pi experience days at our center. We are currently looking at ways to support schools with any form of coding labs across the nation to set up STEM/Coding labs focusing on one school at a time.?We can develop an operational plan for organizations with the budget and help you build your project for schools, churches, and other organizations looking to set up a STEM/Coding lab or organized classes.

We look forward to supporting you in Ghana. Suppose you have any questions or would like to have a tryout with the Raspberry Pi 400 desktop computers. Get in touch with us through our website or all social media platforms.??

Does your organization or company want to support our project in Ghana? We are open to discussing possibilities of cooperating and partnerships from anywhere in the world.
