Learning and Personal Growth Through McKinstry B.L.U.E.

As the #McKinstryintern experience draws to a close for some, there’s increased opportunity for our interns to reflect on what they’ve learned over the last few months.?Elijah Jenkins ,?Carson?Stockwell , and?Edgar Varela ?worked on our Technical Services team this Summer and recently shared with us what they got out of their time at McKinstry.??

Learning and personal growth are cornerstones of the #internship experience at McKinstry. The work that our interns set out to accomplish builds on past knowledge while fitting the demand of our #builtenvironment.?Jenkins reflected “the work (you do) might not be something you’re familiar with. You’re going to have to figure some things out but it’s going to provide value to the enterprise.”??

The ability to learn as you settle into a job role?requires?an open mind support?from?those around you. Varela added?“challenging projects and new ways of thinking bring meaningful benefits to the team, and they can?teach you how to do?something.?Learning is very well encouraged.”?Hands on opportunities to learn more about?our industry go beyond doing the same thing every day.??

Encouraging interns to?learn all that they can and try new things on the job?involves?everyone in an organization, not a select few.?Stockwell?commented that he spent this summer learning as much about Technical Services?and that he found value in the support McKinstry offered him.?“One of the things that I loved about working here this summer is that it felt like McKinstry wanted to look out for you. It felt like they had your back.”??
