Learning isn’t something a teacher or facilitator?does to?learners—it’s a collaborative journey.
A recent conversation with my son brought this home. He was excited about starting a new chapter in Mathematics at school, and his enthusiasm reminded me of the power of curiosity in driving learning. Reflecting on my university days, I realized how my own lack of curiosity in certain subjects led to poor outcomes—not because of the teacher, but because I had postponed my willingness to learn.
This pattern is still evident today. Whether in personal life or corporate training, we often delay learning, repeating the same mistakes while hoping for different results.
In the corporate facilitation world, there’s an assumption that participants are eager to learn. But real transformation starts when we ask the right questions:
In a world where meeting deadlines often takes centre stage, it’s worth reflecting:?
For participants:
·????? What will I get to learn?
·????? Does this excite me?
·????? Will I do justice to the time spent here?
·????? Is it worth stepping away from my day-to-day to attend?
·????? As individuals, are we embracing learning as a part of our journey, even amidst the hustle?
For organizations:
·????? Have we created a culture of learning?
·????? Are people genuinely excited about learning?
·????? Are we building a culture that values learning as much as performance? If not, what can we change—today?
·????? Are we ensuring learning translates into action through follow-ups?
Ultimately, learning is a?partnership—between organizations and employees, participants and facilitators. It’s about fostering curiosity, encouraging accountability, and creating a shared commitment to growth.
Are we ready to approach learning as partners? Let’s reflect and make it happen.
