Learning About Other Fields Through Alumni
For many people it can be hard to choose a career. Even after working for over 10 years I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up however I am satisfied with the path I am currently heading down. This dilemma is usually at its peak during college or graduate school and there is a lot of pressure to choose the right career. This is especially true for millennials such as myself who want to make money but also want self-satisfaction and pride in the work we do. As many of you know I volunteer a lot of my time in helping students from my alma maters as well as anyone who reaches out to me. I do this because I know it can be frustrating when your university offers little help with career development (the main purpose of getting an education). One large problem I see is finding a career path when it only seems like there are a few generic industries and types of jobs. After graduating my eyes have been opened to different options that I didn’t see while in school. I am starting a video series where people share what they do and how they got there. My goal is to give a small glimpse of what type of jobs exist. Then if a student or worker is interested in something new, they can explore deeper about these different jobs/careers. I am asking people who have jobs to volunteer a few minutes of your time to shoot a video for my channel so others can see what types of jobs are out there. I am more than happy to edit raw video footage for you.
For students, I need your honest feedback on these videos. Do you like them, is there something else you want to know, are there specific jobs you are interested in, and etc.?
And as a final request from everyone, please subscribe to my YouTube channel and help me reach my goal of 100 subscriber in 2016. By subscribing it keeps you up to date on my content with minimal effort from you and helps me come up in more searches which results in helping more people.
