Learning Never Stops
I was lucky to be in a place- IIM Indore- which had its priorities right. We, the faculty, could choose to attend any global skill-building workshop or faculty development program once every three years. I went to two different ones at NUS in Singapore. This pic is from one of them, at an evening outing with co-participants. Excluding the prof. from Switzerland, the average age was around 25, as you can see. I must have brought that up by a few years!
Nevertheless, I learnt some skills on a software I had never before used, and a lot more by being there. Not all students were from management, so there was ross-functional learning too. The point being that if an organisation can help develop its people through these initiatives, they could earn some loyalty from employees. I did stay at IIM Indore for 7 years, way above my average tenure in one workplace! I left only because a leadership position beckoned.
