Learning is a never end task. But applying what you learned makes the difference.

Learning is a never end task. But applying what you learned makes the difference.

In the summer of 2020, after the 1st wave of covid-19, travelling was something impossible due to Government restrictions.

Travelling out of the province or abroad was something totally “no way”.

So, my family and I decided to explore the Quebec province and we elected Gaspe peninsula as our summer destination.

It was almost 1000Km from Montreal.

The night sky there was something just spectacular.

No city lights to pollute the night sky, there is a perfect environment for stargazers.

And more, the comet NEOWISE was pointing out in the Atlantic skies.

Really exciting, isn’t it?

I thought to myself, let's take some pictures using my DSLR camera.

Why not?

After all, I have experience with photography in my Country.

How innocent of me!

I can say that that night was one of my most frustrating experiences I could have had.

My experience in Brazil was with an old Nikon FE2 from the 80’s.

The only electronic device inside the camera was the photometer.

With it, I’m an expert.

But with my new camera, with many resources, a lot of buttons and functions… Holy crap!!

I couldn’t take any single picture of the comet.

So, my lesson learned from this day was:

-?The knowledge that brought you to this level is not the same knowledge that will take you to the next level.

So, lessons learned, it's time to apply what you learned, i.e., doing an action plan.

And my plan was going to some spots to take pictures of the night sky.

To have a practice. To try my hypothesis and check the results.

It means, go to Genba, to perform Genchi Genbutsu!

The picture that illustrates the article was a result of several times I went to some spots to have my practice and learning time.

- Learning is a never end task. But applying what you learned makes the difference.

Genba means shopfloor.

Genchi Genbutsu means "the place where the things happen".
