Students keep asking me about the best learning methodology, I advice them that the best learning methodology is to learn things in a sequence. This not only keeps you abreast with the development on the matter under question but also helps you remember the cause and affect relationship.
We are all at some learning phase in our lives, when we are studying we must ideally create a logical sequence of things to absorb most of it. Another very effective method is to make a story of whatever you are trying to learn. Most of the theories presented by western scholars can easily be connected with the names given to theories. So the names must be made the focal point and some link must be established with the name of theory to remember it for long.
Interestingly some fields like mathematics / accounts require remembering a particular sequence, the sequence if learned through logic can help you do wonders in your courses.
In fields like management effecieny and effectiveness are the major concerns. These courses may be learnt with special focus on the above considerations alongwith devising logic behind the concept.
Subjects like economics / statistics have some statistical/ logical considerations coupled with research based facts around which relationships are established and theories are based. You must gather your focus and give due consideration to these factors.
Conducting a surgery is also a procedure, which is learnt and mastered through practice and involves certain steps carried out in a sequence. The surgeons conduct surgeries of patients by exercising necessary care that was learnt through earlier experiences of their seniors / predecessors/ experts of the fields.
Behaviorial studies have major focus on studying behavior, with emphasis on role that conditioning plays in influencing a persons thoughts and actions. If you are a good observer you can thrive in this field.
Hit and trial method is not the most advisable learning methodology as it is based on probability which is not certain to bring results/ desired outcome for you. If you are left with no other possibility then hit and trial method may be adopted only.
It is always advisable that you choose the subjects/ courses/ professional fields based on your interest. Because doing something based on your interest will always bring positive outcome which may not be expected otherwise.
Learning on job is also a method of learning, I advise people to learn from the mistakes of others rather then experimenting themselves. If you are smart enough to forecast the effect of a certain action in anticipation and you can take the corrective measures ahead of your action you are expected to be a high achiever.
Good luck
