Learning, Leading, and Growing: My Data Analytics Internship Experience

My 12-week internship at AppKorp Inc. as a Data Analytics Intern was more than just an opportunity to refine technical skills or complete a project. It was the type that set me on a new path, pushing me to be able to produce a result while working with a great team.?

Employed by AppKorp my tasks entailed the development of their most popular scheduling appointment product, a very effective and easy to use product that assists in organizing the client appointments. A significant part of my tasks included utilizing SQL Developer, Tableau, and Excel to obtain highly specific app performance reports and determine further enhancements required for better performance as well as primary and secondary caching mechanisms implementation. Also, I was involved in migrating the product in new environments thus I got to learn the actual production process in applications and the way of deploying them.?

Perhaps the greatest benefit was learning how the application works in a live production setting. This has equipped me with information on the company's operational matrix and helped me understand the best way to enhance the functionality of clients in real time. Another interesting factor was that although it was a virtual experience, it had an amazing collaborative feeling to it.?

It was most rewarding to be back in the IT industry after having been out of the industry in academia and business leadership positions for quite some time. It also enabled me to recall the fun of getting my hands dirty technically and develop my analytical capabilities coupled with problem-solving abilities all in addition to the exposure to work environment in United States.?

Finally, I have learnt to be innovative, embrace change, and meet the optimal quality of the task set at the company. I have gained not only a wider perspective of professional activity but also confidence while performing leadership positions in the future. I am glad to describe the experience and the lessons which I have received in this company now I am sure that they will help me in my further work.?
