Learning from others...
Fresh out of college/university/any educational institution, we all are conditioned "to win; win against all competitors".
"Summa cum laude" or "Magna cum laude" are somethings we want to wear on our sleeves!
Career is something completely different. Winning is important; yet winning together is the only thing important! Mostly winning together as a team and sometimes winning together even with competition.
The video below succinctly elaborates this through a nice story:
Career is a marathon, not a sprint. It's important to manage the energy throughout the entire marathon, focusing on the finishing line. It's important to be a finisher.
How much do we learn early in our careers decides how does the career get shaped later.
Stepping out of comfort zones accelerate the learning.
There's no better opportunity than the current job, to build the career.
No job sucks. Right people make any job a great job.
These are some of the great learning shared by Mr. Anand Kripalu in the following video.
Company first; team second and You third! It may sound counterintuitive.
But, following this sequence is the best way to leave a legacy in every job. Leaving a legacy is nota CEO prerogative. Anybody can leave an awesome legacy by focusing on the job on hand and doing the best.
Chasing something for money or power only destroys careers. Doing a damn good job and leaving legacy makes money chase you.
Golden words from Shiv Shivkumar in the context of building a successful career.
I am sure these videos are quite useful and informative and offer a lot that can be customized in our own careers.
I do remember, there is a section on dilemmas to be addressed. That will come surely, later.
