Learning Engineering

When I was talking to my dad ( Vincent Pons ) about getting a job, he thought about how I wanted to become an engineer and told me this is a great time to start investing my time for the future.

My dad started talking to me about an eVTOL project that was directed by Tim Kelly, one of the Manufacturing Excellence Forum Sunshine Coast (MEFSC) director. After discussing this, I was eager to learn and start. It took me a few sessions to get comfortable and get to know a few people. Tim recommended that I started working on my CAD skills and get familiar with the program we are using.

We’re coming into a project phase where there’s going to be a lot of very meaningful CAD that needs to be done as we design the next scale of vehicle for our flight test. I then talked to my uncle, Sylvain Pons, who is a Mechanical Engineer for Thales in France, and he knows a lot about Engineering. Since I spoke to my uncle about my ambition to become an engineer and my involvement with the eVTOL, he now teaches me different engineering things including CAD Design every Saturday morning.

Overall, I love being a part of the Flight system team and being mentored by Tim Kelly and my uncle. I really love it, and I have met so many amazing people. I hope to meet even more as I continue to develop my skills and knowledge on my journey to becoming an engineer.
