Embedded Product Development Learning For Working Professionals

Embedded Product Development Learning For Working Professionals

Do you know that most of the working professionals fail to lean and master new technologies while in job. Reason is that Learning style in college (which is full time learning and limited responsibilities) does not work when you are in job.

There are many theories and research happened on why learning for adults is tough. Check some info at https://youtu.be/Mx1uOCsy72k?si=ypePiMdxXQzQ3933

and at https://medium.com/@evgen.ryzhkov/why-adults-learn-slower-c720c18c65b8#:~:text=As%20we're%20getting%20older,affect%20the%20ability%20to%20learn.

Major reason is that you have lot of responsibilities (family, office work and even health) and learning is now part time and reduction in our ability to learn.

So we planned for a new learning method based on experience and some theory from psychologists. This method has higher success rate.

Here is how it works for learning embedded product development

  1. Have a coach who has done what you wish to do (A class room teacher will not understand your limitations and issues as he/she has experience of teaching/mentoring students). While a coach who has gone thru learning while in job understand challenges and has adapted a different style by experience.
  2. Do not start from beginning. As you already have good idea of basics. As soon as you start reading again, you find it boring / feel over confident and do not focus. This results in you not able to capture basics.
  3. Take a working product/design with full details - i.e. hardware and software and make it work. It is easy as it is fully tested and proven. You will enjoy and feel excited as you are doing some thing new. This process is simple as it is a working product so no failure
  4. Then you learn only one part of the whole design. Understand it, Rewrite using your own style. This works as you are learning in small steps as you have limited time. Chances of success are high as it is a small part and you have your coach as your backup. Also you enjoy as even with a minor change. the complete design is working.
  5. Slowly and gradually you replace all design with your own code and hardware.
  6. And finally you add some more functions that you wish to add.

Let me know your views.

I propose one of the following designs

  1. Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine (ready and already in commercial production)
  2. Aarti Players (for temples) with different devotionals songs/aartis at different dates/days/time (work in progress - Order received).
  3. Water Level Sensor for overhead tanks with Internet connectivity and online alerts. (my idea - still in planning stage.
  4. Agriculture 3 Phase Motor Auto Starter with single phase and reverse phase preventer.

Or you suggest some thing that is in your mind.

The responsibility part is really true sir.. learning is becoming a part time. The steps that you have mentioned are pretty clear. Which is more of action rather than typical lesson

This is a post on point sir. I relate to the 2nd point. During the beginning of pre-final year I improved my consistency in learning things. But soon I fell for the "paralysis by analysis" trap. I wasn't aware of this trap at that time. But I was able to recover from it at the end of the year. The straight forward way are actions. Learning matters along the way when we get stuck/confused/lost.
