Learning with Diwali

Golden memories are associated with lantern making. In school days Diwali vacation was always fun. It was a celebration without breaking the study momentum. The daily homework needs to be done on regular basis and as a craft exercise, students have to prepare a lantern. To make a lantern like-minded friends were required to prepare and plan. Together we use to decide the lantern theme, the preparation plan, and the contribution we required to buy decorative material. It uses to start with identifying a bamboo tree, the number of bamboos required, the size of bamboo required and the time we can spend to prepare lantern. Once the bamboo-based is ready it required water treatment to expand. Once the bamboos are expanded, the full night was required to cover the lantern with different color papers and put lights in and around. Once the full lantern is ready we used to hang it, at the center of the building. We used to prepare a common lantern to hang each door for all the society members.

As a management lesson, this entire exercise required planning, teamwork, time management, and people management. The most important learning from all this exercise was the never give up approach. This learning had given us a base, which we are exercising in the corporate world.

This pandemic had allowed us to refresh those golden memories.

"Wish you all Happy and prosperous Diwali."
