Learning Culture in Sales Team: Easiest way to get to your best quarter results till date

It has been a while now that we have been discussing a lot regarding sales function and highlighting the fact that it is one of the most important business functions. Today, we are going to talk about one of the very important things which might help you to reach one of your best sales quarter for 2019. How? Let’s talk about it in brief.

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong if being on employer’s side of the table you try to bring in change that has highest possibility of facing resistance by your own employees. This is what generally happens with most of the changes that you might want to bring in. However, one must think of employee’s and company’s good no matter what kind of consequences are there at initial stage. Learning culture is something that you need to imbibe in your employees and that’s not really an easy thing especially when you are in India. Exposure to technology for millennials in early years of academics and careers as well was relatively low as compared to what Gen Z has experienced in very early years of their life. This makes it more than challenge to make your employees understand that learning platforms which are available for them today on just a click and the amount of enhancement that it can bring in them. However, employing following tricks might assist you in it.

1.      Choose a team leader who can help you drive initiative:

As they say, you always need one of them to drive changes, shape behaviors and more. This is a true story. Management alone or even employers for that matter cannot bring in change on their own without getting help from team leaders and members. Having a team leader who clearly understand the significance of initiative and how he or she can help management to bring it in successfully with enough willing participation from other members is always an upper hand for bringing in learning culture.

2.      Get to know what they need to learn:

This is where most of the organizations go wrong most of the times. It can’t be done that everything that management feels are included in learning courses or even for that matter everything that employees feel they do not need can’t be eliminated from the course. This has to hand in hand. What I would suggest in this case is we can talk with employees and get to know how much the gap is between desired level of skills and knowledge and actual level. This might help us and them as well in designing suitable learning initiative plans which can be implemented over course of time.

3.      Hand over authority to decide:

All you are trying to do is to develop them. Once you see that they have understood the significance of continuous learning they would be more than happy to choose their own learning goals. Giving them this authority might increase their level of interest in it and you might see better results in very lesser time.

For sales teams, it is more than necessary to have a learning culture imbibed. Sales reps are the ones who represent you company in market, convince your customers to buy, influence decisions of re-purchasers, and more.

So, while we think of something new again start being prompt and eliminate procrastination right away. Till then, Gracias!??
