Learning, Connection, and Community Impact

As part of our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the BE ASPIRE Employee Resource Group (ERG) proudly hosted a series of events in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. This month-long celebration offered our team members enriching experiences that not only honored AAPI history and culture but also fostered meaningful connections and personal growth. Here’s a highlight of the key events that took place.

Workshop with Sarah-SoonLing Blackburn: Communication Skills for Inclusive Workplaces

One of the standout events of the month was the engaging virtual workshop led by Sarah-SoonLing Blackburn . This interactive session focused on effective communication strategies, tailored to accommodate different communication preferences in both personal and professional contexts. Our team members gained valuable insights into how to navigate and bridge communication gaps, enhancing their overall effectiveness in diverse settings.

The workshop also featured a dynamic Q&A session, allowing participants to dive deeper into specific communication challenges they face and receive personalized advice from Sarah. The practical tips and strategies shared during this session were widely appreciated, equipping our team members with tools to improve their interpersonal interactions and foster more inclusive environments.

?Virtual Happy Hour: Fun, Learning, and Giving Back

In another highlight of AAPI Heritage Month, BE ASPIRE hosted a Virtual Happy Hour that combined fun competition with philanthropy. This event featured mini-games centered around AAPI history and culture, providing a playful yet educational experience for all participants.

The Virtual Happy Hour was not only a chance to broaden our knowledge of AAPI contributions and traditions but also an opportunity to make a tangible impact. For points scored in the mini-games, meals were donated to Filipino farmers. This initiative underscored the spirit of community and generosity, allowing us to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month while contributing to a good cause.

Trailblazer Tuesdays: Honoring AAPI Pioneers

Throughout the month, we also held Trailblazer Tuesdays, where we highlighted influential individuals from the AAPI community who have made significant contributions in their respective fields. These weekly features showcased pioneers such as Vivian Tu, Kal Penn, and Vera Wang, highlighting their impact for the AAPI community.

Trailblazer Tuesdays provided an opportunity to learn about the remarkable achievements of AAPI trailblazers and their lasting impact on their industries and our society. These stories of triumph and perseverance served as powerful reminders of the importance of diversity and representation.

These events offered more than just celebration; they were opportunities for learning, growth, and giving back. We are proud of the enthusiasm and participation from our team members and look forward to continuing our journey toward greater inclusivity and understanding.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating AAPI Heritage Month and making it a memorable and impactful experience!
